Moderation Policy

Last updated: May 2026

TakeYourSide moderates both editorial cases and user-generated content to protect the safety, integrity, and informational quality of the platform. Moderation may include automated systems, policy rules, and human review where appropriate.

Automated and human moderation

Cases and user content may be evaluated by automated filters, policy rules, and moderation tools designed to detect policy-relevant signals such as sensitive keywords, obfuscated abusive language, hard-risk attributes, source requirements, or abuse patterns. These systems may not detect every violation, and users remain responsible for complying with our policies. Depending on the signal and severity, flagged items may be held for review, restricted, rejected, removed, or escalated for human review.

What can happen to content

Content reviewed by moderation may be:

  • Held for additional review before publication.
  • Edited to comply with editorial or policy standards.
  • Restricted in audience (for example, hidden from users below an age threshold).
  • Rejected from publication.
  • Removed after publication if it violates policy.

Sensitive cases

Cases involving sensitive subject matter may be held for review, published with additional restrictions, shown with comments disabled, limited to specific user tiers, or marked with age restrictions. See our Content Policy for more on how sensitive content is handled.

Comments

Comments are not available on every case. Some categories or specific cases may disable comments entirely; others may restrict commenting to certain user tiers. Comments that violate policy may be held, removed, restricted, or used as a signal for account-level enforcement. Attempts to evade moderation through misspellings, symbols, spacing, coded language, or similar obfuscation may still be treated as policy violations.

Account-level consequences

Users who repeatedly violate policy, or whose behavior is considered abusive or harmful, may face temporary or permanent restrictions on their ability to comment, vote, or use the platform. We aim to apply proportional responses; severe violations may result in immediate account termination.

Purpose

Moderation on TakeYourSide is designed to protect safety, prevent manipulation, and preserve the editorial integrity of structured public-opinion analytics. It is not a system for issuing legal or factual verdicts.

Reporting

Suspected policy violations can be reported via the Report Content page.
